FAQs

  • Neurofeedback is a training method where we measure your brain activity using EEG equipment and provide real-time feedback (usually through sounds or visuals) to help your brain learn healthier patterns of functioning. We use this approach to address various psychological and physiological conditions.

  • We start by assessing your brainwave patterns through a brain map and our initial consultation. Once we identify which patterns may be contributing to your symptoms, the team designs a protocol to encourage beneficial brainwave activity while discouraging problematic patterns. When your brain produces the desired activity, you receive immediate feedback, which gradually trains your brain to maintain these healthier patterns.

  • Neurotherapy is a broader approach that combines neurofeedback with neurostimulation techniques like pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (pEMF), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), or transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). I often use both approaches together for faster, more comprehensive results.

  • Yes. The effectiveness depends on practitioner expertise and the tools used. We regularly update the equipment and training to provide the most current, evidence-based treatments. When we combine neurofeedback with neurostimulation, we typically see faster, more reliable changes in brain function.

  • No. Neurofeedback uses your brain's natural conditioning system to create changes. The worst outcome from a less-than-optimal session is typically feeling temporarily wired or tired. There are no lasting negative effects.

  • Most clients need between 20-40 sessions for lasting results. Simple issues may require as few as 10 sessions, while more complex conditions may need more extensive training. Once we achieve symptom relief, we'll do 5-10 additional sessions to consolidate the benefits.

  • We recommend starting with 3-5 sessions per week for the best results. Once we see consistent improvements, we'll reduce to twice weekly, then once weekly, and eventually once every other week until training is complete. Consistent attendance is crucial.

  • Yes, when you complete an adequate number of sessions at the proper frequency. After your initial training course, occasional "tune-ups" might be helpful but are typically not necessary.

  • Sessions last 45-50 minutes. For some clients, we start with neurostimulation to prime your brain, then add neurofeedback training. During the feedback portion, you'll watch a screen or listen to sounds that respond to your brainwave activity, essentially teaching your brain which patterns to strengthen or reduce.
